While vacationing in Playa Mujeres (just north of Cancun) during March Break, we took the opportunity for another trip organized by Elite Cyclery.
It was a scenic but long three-hour drive to Ek Balam from Playa Mujeres, just north of Cancun. By the time the bikes were re-assembled and ready to go, it was nearly 11AM.
After the ride we toured the Ek Balam site – a most interesting location – you can climb to the top of the pyramid, which is well above the tree tops. The pyramid also has some interesting altars or shrines as you climb up.
We also stopped in Vallodalid, a Spanish colonial city near Ek Balam for walk, sampling some crispy marquesitas. We ate dinner at one of the market stalls – making sure we sampled the local longaniza sausages and other regional specialities. We grabbed a gelato before returning to Playa Mujeres.
Production Notes:
Shot using my Sony NEX5n. Edited in Final Cut 10.1, with stabilization added in post.
My thanks to Ellen, Alex and Elite Cyclery.
