Panasonic GH5 hands on review

by | Jun 22, 2017 | Blog, Camera Reviews | 0 comments

My loan of the Panasonic GH5 coincided with our Viking Rhine Getaway. I’d been anxiously awaiting this since we heard about the camera last December at a Panasonic preview. This review is posted in the Cinema 4K resolution.

You’ll find scenes and stories from the Rhine Getaway on Instagram. I explained the Viking sponsorship in a video. A more detailed review of the cruise is also on YouTube. While we were cruising, I also shot a review of the Olympus OM-D E-M1 mkII, and Kim reviewed the Fuji X-100F.
I also recorded a review of the DJI Mavic Pro.

Behind the scenes

Most of this video, and the accompanying images – which are available on flickr if you’d like to see the EXIF data – were taken while we were on the cruise.

My on camera intro was shot with the OM-D E-M1 Mark II Screens were captured using the Atomos Shogun (which does not support the 17×9 cinema 4K resolution). Screen captures are edited and may be slowed or speeded up in order to match the narration – but not where speed is material to understanding or appreciating the operation. When the feature did not support HDMI output, screens were captured using the Sony A63000 with the SEL30M35 macro lens.
I use a Rodelink Filmmaker wireless kit for on camera audio, a Rode NT USB for narration. I edit on a 5K iMac using Final Cut 10.3.4.

I do read and respond to all comments, which are moderated. If, either here or on YouTube, you leave a relevant and civil comment without links (which are filtered by YouTube) it will be posted.
