DJI Ronin M Hands On Review

by | May 12, 2016 | Blog, MAARTECH

After entering into a B&H affiliate agreement, my advisor told me that, in addition to collecting commission, I was now also eligible to borrow any gear that might interest me. I immediately thought of the DJI Ronin M

Behind the Scenes

Scenes were shot in Toronto’s High Park, on the Centre Island Ferry (we’d hoped to get off and do some biking on the island, but it started to rain when we arrived), and in Toronto’s Graffiti Alley.

Doug shot the extro, the scenes where I’m shooting with the Ronin, and the scene in graffiti alley. Thom shot the intro and the on-camera scenes from my Sony A6300 review, and also ran across the Humber Bar bridge like a fool chasing joggers and cyclists.

Doug shot with the Sony A7S II with the FE 24-70F4 on a Manfrotto monopod, Thom with the A7S with the 35F1.4 on the Ronin. The intro was recorded on an Atomos Shogun. I shot with the Sony A6300 with the 16-70F4. The Ronin setup scenes were recorded with a Panasonic G7 – just to keep as much material in 4K as possible. The iPad and iMac screens were recorded using the Shogun.

On camera audio was recorded using the RodeLink video maker wireless kit. Voice-over with the Rode NT USB desk mic. Edited on Final Cut 10.2.3.

I’d love to hear from you, and do respond to all questions and comments.
